CA78 Seat Padding

Post by cybrshrk » Sun Nov 22, 2009 4:29 pm

Has anyone done their own seat restoration? I will be redoing my seat with a reproduction cover. However, I'm interested in any input someone could give for the padding. Pointers? Patterns? Materials? Vendors? Photos? I have two seats both with destroyed covers and rotted padding. Fortunately, I have one chrome trim strip in very good condition. I plan on cleaning all the parts up then giving them a coat of paint. Looking to repad and cover after that. Thanks for any help you guys could give!

I repaired my CB77 seat. I reused the old cover, it was in ok shape except for rips on the lower edge where the material went under the seat. I sewed new material on and pulled it under and re-attached.

I re-used all the old foam but had to re-glue most of it. I put new foam in-between the old foam. I also made my own strap by wrapping material around a cloth belt and sewing it. Some armor-all and it matches good.

I touched up the HONDA on the back of the seat by making a stencil and using gold paint pen.

Here is the before and after:
