Engine runs on one cylinder

Post by jacoD » Fri Nov 04, 2005 6:34 am

I've got a '62 CB77 engine in a "go-kart" I bought from a friend. When the engine runs it only fires in the right side cylinder at low engine speeds when the revs go up the other cylinder comes into play. What causes this?I've played a bit with the carburettor settings but nothing.I've also checked that the left hand carburettor doesn't have a air leak between the carburettor and the engine.

Hi,

Have you checked spark on both cylnders? If you have spark at hi speed and no spark at low speed it could be a lot of things... I would replace the spark plug first (cheap) and check the condensers, and coils, you could try switching them from one side to the other to see if the problem switches sides. (that would be easy, you just have to make sure to hook up the right set of points to the coils/condensers).

Rick
