This weekend I dismanteld the rotor from my CB72, on the rotor are no marks, so I can't identify it. Curious as I am I also got the stator out too, and the p/n is on the stator is 31102 259 003. Also written on the stator is high output.
I checked with the part manuals, it's a stator for the C72 / C77 (not CA72 / CA77). It 's not used in the CB72 / CB77 according to the parts manuals nr. 1, 2 and 3 and 4.
To see if any differences on the stator are responsible for another output I measusred the recistance of the coils via the colored wires yellow-brown, yellow-pink and pink-brown. The resistance where different then what I usual measure.
Just letting you know,

Brighter headlight bulb?
Improved headlightMy new CandlePower beam unit arrived today from Cycle Seductions; I was slightly disappointed that there's no provision for a pilot lamp, but this is more than compensated for once the Philips MotoVision 35/35 H4 lamp was installed and tried out. The beam pattern is flatter, better-projected and brighter than that experienced with my Stanley OEM unit -- which is also fitted with a 35/35 Bosch halogen bulb. The Stanley reflector and lens are in perfect condition, but the CP unit employs a more modern lens design and a slightly deeper reflector.
I may drill-and-epoxy a high-bright white LED in place of the missing pilot lamp; I'll let you all know if and how. The unit fits the ring a treat, if a little 'off-centre' to start with but easily rectified once all three retaining clips are in place. It's obviously designed for the later Japanese mounting, so there's a minor adjustment required, bending the largest of the four spot-welded brackets inwards a little. The MotoVision lamp's '12 o'clock' tang was a little too wide to allow the bulb to settle snugly into the flange, so I nipped into either side of the tang, with side cutters, by about 1mm each side and folded two small flaps 90º inward. Inside the bucket, the wiring needs to be formed away from the area between the speedo & tacho cables to allow for the additional space demanded by the deeper reflector. I made the temporary tails using my usual stock of crimp terminals, but I shall attempt to fit the proper plug to the lamp and terminate the tails with the correct 3.9mm connectors and insulators that I got from Vintage Connections last year. All-in-all it's a worthwhile upgrade, improving the intensity of the light pool ahead of the bike at night. EDIT: Cycle Seductions seem to have disappeared from the face of the Earth! Here's Candlepower direct.

35/35 H4 halogensSo, there I was, perusing the aisles of Norauto -- our local (errrrm, only!) autoparts retailer in Majorca -- actually looking for an electronic winker relay, when I stumbled across a specific area displaying 'recambios para motos' (motorcycle parts). Never even noticed it before. And the stock on said shelves amounts to a few low-wattage 12V & 6V lamps plus a few filters for Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha & Daelim twist-n-go scooters.
Now, you may ask, gentle reader, WTF am I wittering on about this? Well, what was staring me in the fizzog? A 12V, 35/35W H4 halogen bulb, €2.95! OK, it was just a generic type; but there was I thinking that this was an endangered species, when all the time it's a fairly common fitment to the buzzy little scooters. And I paid GB£12 for mine from UK! Although I have to say that the Philips MotoVision has a whiter, longer beam than a standard H4, but the 'standard' H4 was still the same price from Goffy. Moral? Look around -- you may be surprised!
