Newb - What's it worth?

Hey all,

New to Superhawks and bikes in general. I'm considering purchasing a bike locally that runs but needs a bit of work. I was wondering about what I should pay/start negotiating at. Any thoughts? Here's the specs and some photos:

1964 Honda 305 Superhawk. Recent engine overhaul by Honda tech. Carbs and fuel system cleaned. New tires and tubes. Clear title.

Without knowing anything about the bike, other than what you have said, I and others may be a little reluctant to tell you what its worth. From what you have said and what I see in the pictures, I would probably start negotiating at about $1000 and go from there. Good luck, CliffC

I'll ask. Does it look a little large?

More details: fresh rebuild by Honda techs, some rust on one of the mufflers. Not restored but pretty clean overall.

I saw this bike on Craigslist and was tempted. Assuming honda techs did a good job and it runs and shifts good, seems likely to me owner will get his asking price ($2,300 if I recall right.) Also assuming you're close enuf to pick it up to avoid shipping costs. Impossible to tell for sure without inspecting, riding in person, of course. Good luck.

He's pretty firm at $2600 which seems a little high to me. I'm a 22 year old college student with a small budget so I may go with something that I can fix up as I go and do a lot of the work myself. If you hear of any bikes that have most of the parts that need fixing up - point them my way.
