On this thought- anyone ever build a 350 and have the motor last an appropriate amount of time on the track? Reading the Silver books warns against it as the liners get pretty thin.
On the track it will be running for a much shorter time than a street bike but a much higher stress level.
Anyones experience would be helpful. I still have a bunch of K4 stuff on the shelf in the basement.
thanks

Are you talkin about a 305 takin out to 350? Done properly they are dead reliable the problem is most of the time they arent built properly. I know a guy that has been running the same 350cc engine with almost no problems that I know of for several seasons now. The bike is dead fast and a consistent top 5 finisher in. I also know several other west coast guys that seem to run them without any problems. All are pretty much kits from a source (I would rather not disclose openly on the net) out west that consists of a fully worked over head,350cc pistons and sleeves, extremly lightened crank,PVL magneto,Mega Cycle cams, and various other tasty goodies. The work is top notch as is the price but I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for.

What I'd like to know is type of piston, stock vs. modified liner, etc. Anyone can build a grenade, I was looking for successful combinations.

I'd like to see pictures of the cylinder bases both jug and case as well as the porting job if possible.

Hey Gord- welcome!
As we speak the sidecar is completely disassembled chassis and I'm waiting for the new tubing to come in. We're still shooting for the school in April. Fun seeing you and Craig in the movie!
I was hoping to run this bike in Pre '65 up north with you guys but I think the F1 will take up most of the race budget. We'll see.

I got some brazing repair done on my Yetman chassis and hope to have that on the street this summer too.

The 500 racer in Australia has almost 10kg of welding rod welded into the cases, just to allow for machining to fit that tranmission......... So lots of work.......
