spoket next to the clutch
spoket next to the clutchthere is a sproket beside the clutch it has the chain that is behind the clutch to it how do I get this sprocket of I see it has threads but I tries everything to get this off there was a sproket in front of it I got that one off but the one behind it is what I need to get off
Re: spoket next to the clutchMind if I ask why your doing this? Is chain worn out?Do you have chain off?
Re: spoket next to the clutchI am tearing down the engine to rebuild it no I do not have the chain off thats what I am tring to get off
Re: spoket next to the clutchI got to thinking do I really need to tear the whole engine apart to rebuild it I shouldnt have to tear the transmission apart should I. I have a D&K engine rebuild kit but it has a bunch of gaskets that I dont know where they all go
Re: spoket next to the clutchYou do not have to take any parts off the bottom end to rebuild top end as far as I know. Also, I found out that if you do decide to split the bottom half you can just lift the whole shaft with the gear that chain rides on up and take chain off.You need to take off small bolt that holds guide for shifting arm to lift bottom of case off and take stator and starter gear off also first. I just did that when I pulled the bottm half apart on my engine. I've taken three of these bottom ends apart and learned after #2 what to take off. You probably have gaskets for end caps for cam shaft, chain adjuster, oil pump on bottom of case, cylinder base gasket head gasket and valve cover gasket, orings for valve cover caps, maybe oring for carb spacer, small orings for two studs on head and left side cover.
