buddy strap

Post by bk305 » Wed Aug 27, 2008 7:20 pm

my 1963 cb77 had a spring steel reinforcing strap inserted into the hold down fabric for strength? and/or form. when i recovered my seat with the replacement cover and strap, i found using new banding strapping for the new insert to work perfect. i also used new ss bolts and nuts to finish the job. (now if i can just get the chrome seat trim finished i'll be all set)! - bk

My seat on my 67 cb77 appears to be a stock seat and the strap folds under the seat and there are 2 bolts welded to the inside edges of the seat pan, but my seat flares up at the front by the tank, not flat like the picture posted above.

The strap wraps around the bottom edge of the seat then the threads pass through a hole in the strap and you can hold it there with a flat washer, lock washer and 10mm nut. .............lm

oh ok, so thats why i can not find any kind of "buckle" for the strap. I will get out the trusty drill and tap, and maybe try to get some allthread to replace it or maybe a short bolt.
