Another leaker

After replacing the clutch rod seal and getting that leak stopped,now I've got oil running out behind the points cover.I suppose there is a cam bearing seal behind the points plate? Can this be fixed without a major teardown?

Yes, seal behing points plate, and easy to replace. Remove points plate, then 4 phillips head screws and points housing will come off. You may also need to replace gasket behind housing. Look at numbers on seal, and you can get them cheap from a local bearing supplier.

Excellent-Thanks for the info.Hope that is a somewhat common seal at the bearing supplier,haven't really seen it listed on e-pay or retrobikes.

It's a pretty common size -- 16x28x7 -- and should be easily available. As Davo says: bearing suppliers should have them, but I've also found that hydraulics workshops have or can get.

Let me know if you draw a blank and I'll help, but you should be pleasantly surprised at how easy they are to obtain and how cheap!
