CB77 air filter tubes soft?CB77 air filter tubes soft?Hello,
Is there a soaking method to make old air filter tubes softer? Thanks, Lee CB77 1965 CA77 1964 CB160 1966
Air Filter HosesSomewhere in this forum, within the past week there was a post from someone who had a NAPA part # for a hose that is a good replacement. You will have to search -- I am not sure which link it was under.
Jim It would be worth a try to first wash them with liquid soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Spray inside and out with Honda Silicone spray. Put into zip lock bag, spray them some more.
Seal them up for a week or so. I've had decent results with this technique, but haven't done anything that was hard as a rock. Good luck, Chase I just replaced my hard ones. They were hard so that they were creating an oval at the connection the the carb. they no longer would conform to the shape there due to the stress in the bends and the hardness. I would suggest replacing them to assure a nice seal at the two ends. squishy seems to mold itself to the end shapes.
If I had it to do over I think I might skip the 70-80 $ tubes and go with the black air hose and clamps. cut to length. or perhaps get the pod filters that attach to the carbs and re-jet
Re: CB77 air filter tubes soft? Both ends should be pliable but strong and the middle has steel in it. ..........lm
