replace old coils with Bosch?replace old coils with Bosch?Does anyone know what Bosch coils work as replacement in a CB77?
thankly
Thumbs, my solution to the mini sized, stock coils, was to use Delco, automotive, coils. They are a little tight to fit under the gas tank, but if you can figure a way, to do that, you will have very strong spark. The coils from just before electronic ignition, work perfect, as they have buildt in ballast resister's. If you want to you can even set your plug gap wide, as you will have so much spark, you can jump 35,40 thou, easy. I use stock points and condenser, they have lasted forever, a narrow point gap is best, too as that will allow the coils to build up the most spark, as well as being the most easy on your points.
CB77 coilsAllthumbs, what did you find out about coils? I'm just starting on my dad's '67. Known problem #1 (besides rust in the tank) is no spark--or rather, faint on the right, none on the left. So far can't even unscrew (!) the coil wires. I've had condensers go bad, and coils, before--hey, anyone know the specs--ohms, etc., for these, for a tyro?
Thanks PS first post, I've been browsing through here, looks like a real fount. Thanks, all. -pd
