concerning cheap rims, these i believe were actually Apex cycle rims, not the ebay thailand/taiwaners.

from cknight, 1-14-2008 "Obtained a CB72/77 front rim from Apex about a year ago. Holes for spoke nipples were too small, and drilled at the wrong angles. Perhaps it was intended for a CB160 configuration. Used carbide burr to re-do the holes, then had to have it rechromed. Also had the large late model DOT-type stampings on the side flanges."

Thanks bro'. Also, I've emailed eBayer vintage_001 and asked for a precise spoke diameter, as measured with a Vernier or micrometer (as opposed to an eyeball) so I can compare them to my original ones. Let's see.... Watch this space, spoke lovers!

I checked with Buchanon Spoke a couple weeks ago on a spoke set for my CA77 , this was thier reply

"Yes; we can manufacture stainless steel spokes for this model. The estimated cost for 36, 9/10gauge S/S spokes w/nipples is $106.00 each front or rear set. You will need to supply us old samples to duplicate"

when i priced out replacements from honda they were $55 front / $63 rear , but like i said earlier i haven't a clue whether they're true matches to the originals or if they are diff. thread pitch, etc. Next time i order anything from them i might tack on a couple spokes for comparison.
