I think my last post was 2011. (!!)
After several house moves, a bunch of life changes, etc I finally dug stuff out of boxes and started reassembling again. I got the bike together and rode it around. Clutch, brakes, shifting, etc .. all good. Now comes the detail work. The bike came with some janky exhaust tips (probably from jc Whitney) and I'm working on putting correct mufflers on. I still have some bits to paint, things to polish, etc.. but I'm over the hurdle of getting it free from cardboard boxes.
This thing was a ROUGH beater when I bought it. Wiring was a mess, missing parts, etc.
Finally reassembling
Re: Finally reassemblingLooks good. I expect that getting OEM exhaust will be a problem -- either impossible or very expensive.
Re: Finally reassemblingYeah, the mufflers are frustrating.. I have a nice one (oem one piece muffler crimped to header style) for the right, and have nice oem one for left side but it's for the other years so bolt holes are in the wrong place.
I'll eventually get a matching left muffler but I'm not even sure which one (early/latel) to get. My vin is 401283... which if I'm reading parts fiche correctly I need 18033-259-037 (a late muffler) ... but the frame uses the skinny early battery. In the meantime I put these mufflers on. They're tips with baffles in them.
