I know it’s been awhile… but any resolution to the hot idle?
Was it the carb nuts, the timing?

Im working on a bike with the same exact issue. Unfortunately, it’s 600mi away at another family member’s home. Just trying to get all the info i can before i return.. thx!

I agree. I have never been able to do a decent static timing as shown by using a timing light later. Timing lights aren't very expensive, about $50.00 for a serviceable one. Here's a link to one I bought.
