Good replacement neutral light in the headlight buckt ??????

Post by FluteTears » Thu Apr 03, 2008 10:32 pm

Anyone found a good way to replace the neutral light in the headlight bucket?
I am putting my 1964 CA77 back together and the lens and rubber and bulb just wont stay together the lens is no longer red and that rubber piece it just not a good deal at all. At this time I have tape holding it all in place and well that is not going to last.
I am thinking that a new lens and a LED bulb would be the best way to go. I have been to radio shack and found a green led that is 12V with a lens but I would have to drill the hole bigger to make it work. That would be fine but I would like to have a red one. BTW this is a everyday driver close to a show bike but not in every way. So what have you done for a fix up on this? The other thought I have is find a OEM replacement lens and epoxy a led and resitor in it.

Thanks
Brad

Flute, I have bought those red led bulbs at Rat- Shack (in 12 volt) Have you tried their online catalog? Mabey your store was just out at the time. These are my usuall way to go for hi beam indicators and warning lamps on the cars I build,so I know they are out there. Steve Greer

I found that a spark plug boot with just a touch of RTV holds very well, and will handle the heat from the bulb.
