CB77 Engine restoration.Do I need to worry about pulling these out and not being able to get them back in properly?... I was told that old Honda trans's were shimmed individually and were very difficult to navigate... I don't know if this is true for cb77s but I wanted to ask... Do they just lift out?
I'll check the adjuster... it was sticking out when I took the cover off for the first time so I figured that it was suppose to... also the way that it is pushing I would think that it needs to be sticking out further??? -B- Do these pictures help?It looks like the roller is riding and sitting in the detent of the drum as it should looking at you picture. To pull the Drum and forks just lift out your gears etc and then remove two bolts on shift forks and watch how the rollers down in shift fork guides come out(go in one way) you can see the rounded end in the photo I believe that I have roller on end of magnet..Then remove two phillips screws out at end of drum that keep the shift drum stay in place.Your clutch adjuster was not in right I assume when you got the bike?Joe
P.S.-Also, On other drums I have pulled out the drum stay held on by the two philips screw have had vairying degrees of wear. This would allow the drum to move in and out depending on wear amount. You will see this if you pull the drum or just take off the stay. Update... I've pulled the tranny and counted all of the teeth per Ed's request... I've taken pics of everything and will post them below... only a few parts showed signs of wear and I make notes above the pics of the ones I found... as for the tooth count... on the top shaft (one with drive gear) from left to right the count goes 31, 29, 24, 18 and for the bottom shaft, left to right is 21, 23, 27, 34...
