CL77 305 Cam Chain Tensioner Roller
CL77 305 Cam Chain Tensioner RollerIf anyone happens to have a (CL77) 305 cam chain tensioner out, or one laying about, would you mind measuring the diameter of the roller?
May come a time when I will want to turn a new one and I wanted to see if the material I have now has a large enough diameter. Thank you.
Re: CL77 305 Cam Chain Tensioner RollerHONDA issued 2 diameter neoprene wheels.
However the FIRST issue has the Set Screw to the Left. Next the screw was to the right. The Wheel is 1.6 in.+-. The best I can say is they issued a smaller diameter wheel at some time with the screw to the right. .............lm
Re: CL77 305 Cam Chain Tensioner RollerThank you.
Believe we're good. A friend has my length of Delrin rod I turned some elliptical rollers from, and I think it's close to that. He's out of town right now, but will see when he gets back. Re: CL77 305 Cam Chain Tensioner RollerYou could try replacing it with a Kawasaki one, like this.....
Simialr to the Capellini modification but a little more cost-effective..... G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72

A complete Cappellini kit costs $133. The Kawasaki option is great if you can find a good used one though.
Re: CL77 305 Cam Chain Tensioner RollerNever heard of the Cappellini kit (I don't get out much), but looks pricey, as does the Kaw Z1 toothed sprocket. The Z1 12055-002 lower roller (guide) from the same bike at ~$18 actually looks a little more promising.
I could probably turn one out of a $1.00 (or less) slug of Delrin...... but do appreciate the suggestions. I really hope I don't need to worry about this for awhile, but good to know there are possibilities out there. Re: CL77 305 Cam Chain Tensioner RollerThe Kawasaki sprocket is very durable and they can be found on eBay for less than $50, often you get a couple of them for that.
