Hi,
thanks for reply. Put clutch back together as it was - the plates are all really thick. Engine now in bike and running, will take out tomorrow weather permitting. If clutch is an issue I do have lots of spare plates etc, including thinner new ones.
The engine I have put in is a 6 digit engine number which should place it as a 64 according to Honda chart. My bike is a 62 pressed handlebar model registered in 64; I've owned it since 1991 when I restored and rebuilt it, and have just refreshed it at various times over the years.
The engine I've taken out is the original 62 engine number. I will strip it again later to sort out the gearbox. The thing I didn't check when I had it down was the selector drum and pins - wish I had, but was in too much of a hurry!
C72 gearbox problemC72 gear selector forksHi, still messing around with poor gear changing. Lots of wear/grooves on selector forks. looking for NOS. Can anyone tell me if CB72/77 forks are usable in the C72 box?
Gear selectorsYes, they will interchange just fine. Over the years they may have come from different suppliers and look slightly different but they will all work just fine, same goes for the drum itself too.
DJM C72 gear change shift forksHi, thanks for replies. Been looking for some NOS shift forks at a reasonable price. Found one with correct part number and it looks exactly like the ones shown in the parts lists and photos on CMS, but is not the same as the actual ones fitted to the bike, and every other C72 C77 used bits as shown in pics on ebay. Are the parts list pics from earlier C71?
