Japan Meets Britain
Thanks Preston! I tell you, you wouldn't have believed my reaction when I saw those chromed footpeg assemblies when I picked up my bike last week -- just about fell over. That was the one area I had been less than thrilled with, and this chrome work really completes it. Of course, now I look at other things I could have had chromed at the same time (the torque bar on the rear wheel, the headlight ring and a couple of fiddly bits), but we'll leave that for next winter. As a final addition for this year, however, I just replaced my warped/cracked tank badges with those beautiful creations that Tim McDowell is selling through his Classic Honda Restoration website. The originals are going in the vault....
I know it's been one heck of an investment, and I'm sure some folks think it would have been smarter to keep it bone stock, but it's the way that I want it and I'm really thrilled with the result (plus I still have all the stock parts just in case). Thanks again, and maybe I'll see you at White Rose in August!
Okay, opinions needed here. I just picked up the bike today after its final (ha!) round of work (new clutch, 2 1/2 slides, painted rear torque arm), and it probably runs the best ever. It pulls nicely from the whole range, and it's nice to finally be able to snick it into neutral from a standstill without having to rock it back and forth.
The opinions I'm after are regarding the latest cosmetic addition. I took the decals off the headlight visor and replaced them with the 'wing' that I've had kicking around my toolbox. I'm not sure if it 'works' or whether there is now too much going on with the front of the bike. If it should go, it's no big deal and involves a $ 7.00 headlight visor. Any aesthetic thoughts out there regarding this addition would be greatly appreciated....many thanks!
