The Whistling Wanker is back!!!!

Post by Hotshoe » Mon Nov 21, 2011 6:50 pm

Glimpsed streaking through eBay this evening-

Honda CB305, CB77, CL77, CL72, CA77 Superhawk, Scrambler, Dream
250, 305 WEBCO crankcase breather, wanker whistle
Item #230704201949

It could even be used to let people know how you're feeling; mount it pointing up when you're feeling good, down when things aren't going so well.
This thing is just too much fun!

Any value to it beyond the cosmetics? Does the breather actually do anything that's advantageous?

The vent on the cylinder head cover provides all the venting needed for a stock or close to stock engine in good repair.
Maybe I'm missing something but it doesn't even look like it has a way to vent through the valve cap the Wanker attaches to.
I added it to my list of things to look out for when digging through salvage yards, that's definitely not funny money it brought!

I think there is a hole drilled thru the side of the hex for the vent.

So is it pretty much just a racing type of accessory?

IMHO, on a stock bike it's sort of like a fake hood scoop on a car.
But if you're popping seals on a high RPM engine you'll try anything, thus the Wanker.
The crank seal behind the dyno used to give me trouble occasionally, but I think it was more of a mechanic's skill issue (ahem) than anything else.
