NO starter button on bike sounds like someone did not want you to try the starter when you purchased the bike

First off do check your battery is ok, it is a process of elimination each part in the chain.

Clicking sounds like a low battery.

If all the wiring is OK then if it was me I would take off the starter motor and put the poss lead from a good battery to the threaded post then the negative lead to the motor case then the starter motor should run only do it for a very short time.

If it motors then that is one big part you can eliminate.

If you do not feel confident about working with 12v then get someone that is.

Let us know how you get on.

You ask what could be wrong with the wires?-- answer, not connected or wrongly connected

You ask is there steps i should take to make sure its wired correct--- answer, yes look at the wiring diagram of your model.

It sounds like you have power to the solenoid if it's clicking check from there to the starter motor.

You ether have power or not, do you have a multimeter or just a simple test line with a 12v bulb to check out if there is any power.

grab a multimeter and start check stuff. continuity, voltage etc. you'll buy so many unnecessary parts without doing this first. often a simple fix.
