New pistonNew pistonFor anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of seeing a piston from a modern engine, here ya go! This is from a YZ450F single cylinder , short stroke, engine. Looks more like a ring holder huh?

Makes a much nicer ash tray! I got to see a new CNC machined-from solid piston for a Rolls Royce Merlin (Spitfire) recently. Surprisingly similar to that YZF piston. I've been looking at possible 72mm pistons for my 350 Matchless recently. Early Gold Wings were 72 as are some modern scooter engines. Nothing like the old Matchy piston, though. What is the diameter of that piston? It looks way past 2x the bore of the Honda item. G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72

The piston is 94.5mm. The CL72 piston next to it is 54mm. Remember, CCs = bore X stroke. Big piston + short stroke = quick reving. They do mahe really nice ashtrays by the way, too bad almost no one smokes anymore! They do require a good bit of maintanence. This one ran out of valve adjustment on the titanium intake valves. It's getting new valves and seats cut, new piston and rings, and will be ripping wheelies by the weekend! I'll check out the you tube vid for sure, I haven't been down to Hollister since last winter, but I love that TT track they have!

Davo, good to be almost back together on that yzf. Last Sunday, while doing a short lap on my Yama Vision, we parked by the fence and watched a couple of moto's of racing at Oatfields, a local race track, near Turlock, Ca. The track was in perfect condition, made me want to ride! Haven't been lately, been saving money for a new roof! Thanks for looking in on the Rat Pack Flat Track, Vid, On Any Saturday, About 10 AM !!! Fun Fun Fun
