305 Red Line
305 Red LineWhats the red line RPM on a stock CA77E 305?
red lineI'm asking because I'd like to make a small electronic tach for it. Thanks for the info.
Hi,
When making a tach, I woul'd prefer going to 10.000 rpm, I have a C77 from '64 and I pulled it to 9.500 rpm on a dynoyet. It is in fact a CB77 engine with a different crank and less sprortive head, different cames and different mufflers. When I overhauled the head I did rework the inlet and outlet channels a bit for a better flow. I alos rejetted the carb to cooperate with the new situation. From a mechanical point of view there are no limitations compared to a CB72 / CB77 red line, but the C77 or CA77 just aren't so rev hungry as the two carb CB72 / 77, so you don't feel the need to pull it further then 8500 rpm, and the engine doesn't give a happy feedback. Not knowing that a C77 can be pulled to a 8500 rpm, most people ride the dream as a tourer, and drive with speeds of 30 40, maybe 50 miles an hour where the rpm will not exceed over 6 a 7000. Jensen
