Oil Leak from top breather port

Post by paul davison » Mon Dec 01, 2008 12:00 am

I asked this question about a year ago, I had a leak from the top breather port, upon further examination ths was due to a blown head gasket. I replaced the head gasket at the begining of the summer, at the end of the summer the leak returned. The oil is pouring out of the top head breather tube. Blown head gasket again? Why would this happen again? Maybe warped head? I havent torn it apart again yet to see if the head gasket is blown again but will soon. Any suggestions on this matter would be much appreciated. Thanks,Paul

Did you re-torque the head? After torquing it down for the first time it is recommended to leave the motor overnight, re-torquing once more to 15 ft/lbs the following day.

If you have to drop the motor again anyway, I'd be inclined to have both the head and the barrels' faces checked for flatness at an engineering facility.
