There are some nice parts on that bike. The mirror mounts are spot-on and the mirrors are the right ones for those special brackets. The lever perches should not have mirror bosses and the levers should have very minimal ball ends. I think both left and right hand parts come from the early CB92.

The part numbers for the handlebar and handlebar clamp are model-code 257 or the ill-fated Dream sport.

Rear light is just right, too. It looks like the screws have been overtightened so I would take a look at that. Those rear lights are rare and expensive.

There was a '61 motor on eBay a while back. I have the barrels and pistons from it.

I think your bike deserves to be put back to original where possible. It is pretty unique now but would be a great reference point if the original parts could be found. I have (I think) one original badge from mine.

MGH - I'm jealous. That is a very sweet looking Dream! I have a '61 Dream Sport with the pressed steel handlebars. I'm not sure how I can help, I bought in pieces, but if you need reference pictures or anything, let me know.

G-man - What did you mean by "ill fated Dream Sport?" I have a 1961 Dream Sport....

I imagine he was simply alluding to the fact that Honda didn't produce it for very long before they stopped making it... I don't think it'll blow up on you, or fall apart while riding! ;-) In fact I'd consider it more rare than most of these bikes and probably worth more to collectors as a result. Like the '63 1/2 split-window Corvette.

No I meant the 1959 CE71 Dream sport which had "model code" 257. Honda only built 390 of them before they realised their mistake.....

The early dreams used handlebar parts from the CE71 but the bike itself was a bit of a disastrous attempt to make an Americanised Dream and Honda pulled the plug pretty quickly. I have only seen one nicely restored example in Australia.

The later Dream Sports were like yours. C72 and C77 Dreams with high exhausts.....
