thanks.
CB77 305 Sprung a Leak
Probably the most important thing from a catastrophic standpoint is making sure you don't F up the crank trying to force the rotor back on. You gotta have the starter clutch rollers back in their huts and seated and the key way line up at the same time. Took me 3 tries and a replacement keyway.
Was able to get away from work today so I rode up to Davo's new shop, which is awesome by the way, and he helped with the new seal. The crankshaft seal was good, but the starter sprocket seal was not. It just fell right out of the sprocket, but the new one is nice and snug, so no more leaks!
Thanks again to Davo for helping me out! It's interesting that some new seals will fail after very few miles or will push out of the cases. It's a PIA but stuff does happen sometime.
We have had that where a new seal on a good shaft just weeps oil for no apparent reason. There must be a reason but it isn't scored or gouged etc - just doesn't seal well. Had a clutch pushrod seal blow out of one motor (CB175) after a winter break. Must have shrunk in the cold or something. That one had probably 100 miles on it. I think that's what they mean when they say that old bikes have character.....
