Rebuilt engine seized
Thanks Greg, I looked through your earlier posts. Boy, have you been challenged!
Sorry to revisit stuff but I don't like that brass tube idea. It could possibly impede oil flow. About all I can give you is what I do when I build an engine regarding oiling with that specific bearing. I use an oil can with a fairly small rounded tip and push the tip into the bearing oil supply hole in the case. Give it a pump and the oil should flow out of the side of the bearing. We'd all like to know what happened here, but I am stumped.(cricket expression for our non cricket nations). Any more input from the gurus? All you can do is rebuild it carrying out a few checks as you go and it should be OK. You obviously know what you are doing , so take heart mate. Brian. Greg
I'm wondering if the brass tube was intended to seal up a hole (or crack) in the oilway to stop it leaking out somewhere. It may have blocked off the oil feed to the right cylinder when it was there and with it not there the oil may be going somewhere else. Can you get some pics of the crankcase in the area where the brass tube was, please? G

Hi Brian
Good suggestion. Greg and I spoke yesterday but we didn't get around to thinking about checking the condition of the right-side top-end as evidence. It's much better with the parts in front of you. You begin to notice things then. G

Greg sent me some more pics (I'll post tomorrow) and the top end looks fine so that probably 'lets-off' that brass tube. As for the pistons and liners - you don't owe me anything. That was to recognise the help you gave me on the gearbox. I hope they do the job. :-) G
