I told you that you will get lots of advice when you ask and I told you what I use.
This is just the first and there will be more to follow.
Tis a shame some demeaning phrases always pop up.
I'll just keep using what works feller. ................lm

engne oil

Thxs Masonmart, for all that great information.it did seem strange to me that in 50 years the oil industry hadn't improved considerably.i live in a very hot part of Arizona in the summer month's it can reach temps in 120's so it makes sense to use a multi.grade oil and change the oil less often instead of every 300 mile's.thanks again to all of you for your help.

I told ya so!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't think of any information from HONDA which mentions 300 miles as the mileage to change the engine oil every time.
Schedule is 300, 3,000, 7,000, 11,000. 15,000 looks to me like once the engine is Broken-In 4,000 miles is the norm.
The feller needs to get his information on this correct.
Do you think you will ride your bike 4,000 miles a year?
Some but very few bikes are ridden 10,000 miles after a rebuilt as the owner looses interest..
That feller goes on a OIL TY RAID every time it is mentioned.
Check out his PM for valve size information also.
Very interesting. ! RIGHT JERRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. ..................lm

Interesting indeed.....

This is the oil recommendation from my CB72/77 Owner's handbook published 1966.

Image

And here is the rather contradictory oil change recommendation.

Image

The 'periodic maintenance' guide says change every 600 miles or thereabouts but the previous page says change at 1000 mile intervals unless you are riding hard, then every 300 miles.

My CL77 manual says that you should change every 300 miles if you are riding in winter or if you only do short trips.....

My Dream manual says change every 2000 miles.

I am including the data I have which as I look at now I gave numbers which I though were in Miles and a closer look tells me the numbers were in KM.
So the numbers I give are in KM and for the CL72/77 engines. (BELOW)
Under the KM numbers are Mile numbers.
Miles start at 150 and end at 9,000 on the Periodic inspection chart.
There is an error at 3,000 KM which shows 4800 and near as I can tell should be (1800).
As I read this info I see oil changes and all other inspection items are at a 2,400 mile interval after break-in.
I've seen yours and here is what we here in the USA were issued. ...............lm

Yep - agreed the 4800 is a typo and should be 1800.

From your table and assuming the black dot and white dot means the same as the CB77 manual (i.e. black means dealer and white dot means owner) I read.....

Dealer Oil change at 150 miles
User or sales shop oil change at 600 miles
User or sales shop oil change at 1200 miles
Dealer Oil change at 1800 miles
User OC @ 2400
User OC @ 3000
User OC @ 3600
Dealer OC @ 4200
User OC @ 4800
User OC @ 5400
User OC @ 6000
Dealer OC @6600
User OC @7200
User OC @7800
User OC @ 8400
Dealer OC @ 9000
