Exhaust leaking from kickstart engine case

Post by StillNDADIRT » Tue Oct 04, 2016 8:31 am

There seems to be exhaust leaking from the engine case behind the front sprocket. I haven't had the engine running with the case off to see where it's coming from. Is this a common issue?

If your engine has the breather tube from the top installed under the engine center cover what you see may be case pressure being exited there.
What engine work have you done?. ..............lm

I haven't been in the engine yet. I'm told by the previous owner that the owner before him drag raced the bike so who knows. That owner also put ape hanger handlebars on and chromed everything he could if that tells you anything.

Got it.
Actually nothing should show from that tube unless it has tired rings or the top of the engine installed with the gaskets (2, one metal and one fiber) installed wrong. ......................lm

It's a significant amount of exhaust coming out. Could be tired rings. Is there an easy way to check to determine if the issue is from rings or gaskets?
