Can you give a little more info on the CB450 carb modification?

450 carbs

Just slot the holes in the carb adapters.
Bolt on and center the adapters.
Match the port to the adapter hole.

Use a CB450 carb cable a CM450 might work I haven"t look at one.

My hang up was that I thought all the CB450's had a linked carb. One of those that had a plate and a common thottle that was run by a single cable. I took a look on ebay and saw that the earlier ones used a cable for each. Makes more sense now.

Do you have a suggestion as to where to start with jetting?

just start with the stock jets if you have a the DUnstall type muffler - it will flow more than the stock ones.

Another thing you could look into would be K&N filters. But, you'll probably then need to look into rejetting as they will tend to lean things out. I just put them on mine and I do notice a difference in terms of performance, plus I was running a bit rich with the Amals and these filters seem to put the plugs in the right spot now.

At least the nice thing about these types of mods (pipe, filters, etc) is that it's all 'bolt on', and you could easily convert it back to stock configuration if you (or the next owner) wanted.

Of course, don't forget to hold onto all those stock parts you took off!
