66 305 scrambler,
I replaced the crank had a cb k5 to a cb k40 the latest model with the different spline -020 part drive sprocket. On start up I blew the head gasket oil passages with rubber O rings. Blew out from the oil pressure. I really can't think of anything I did [never had the head apart] and checked everything and all seems good. Only thing I put some case sealer 1211 around the gasket oil holes when I put it together and after I took it apart it seems like all I did was make it so slippery the head gasket never gripped the motor. Dose anyone have any other ideas?
Thank You for the help.
blow head gasket in oil passages'You shouldn't use any sealer on the head gasket. And with new o-rings you do
not want to put sealer on them. Also remember that these parts fit tight and any excess sealer will be squeezed into the engine cavity. It will hopefully stay there and not cause problems but you never know. A very thin bit of sealer on engine cases with no gasket if about the only place any sealer is needed. Brady 66 CA77
