I just purchased a very nice late CL77 the one with chrome fenders and Burnt Orange tank and side covers. The problem is STUCK PISTONS.
I have taken the head off, and done the mystery oil thing. I have also smacked the pistons a few times with a wooden 2x2. NOTHING!
I know that 305s are ver prone to this problem. Does anyone know a good way to get the pistons un-stuck?
Please only solutions that you know work.
Thank you,
Oldducs
Sticky PistonsWhat worked well for me was pouring about 20cc of a 50:50 mixture of engine oil/WD-40 into the cylinders and waiting a week. Then I heated the barrels with a propane torch to the point where they were too hot to touch (first remove the fuel tank, carbs and all flammables from the area and have a fire extinguisher at your side) and the turn the crank via the rotor bolt. --Randall
