5mm .90 screws
5mm .90 screwsThey sure put some odd ball screws in the Superhawk. Went all over town looking for 5mm .90 screws to replace the ones on my timing cover and starter cover. Last resort was the dealer and the had them for .30 cents each. Had quite a few gaskets in stock and abble to order as well. Who would have guessed?
Dealer didn't come through.Well I got some nice shiney 5mm screws from the dealer and they are .80 pitch. must have supperceded the old .90 pitch 5mm screws without realizing they are not the same. I'll have to take them back and keep looking. Turns out the screws that hold in the speedometer are .90 as well. I'll be abble to re-zink the speedo and sarter cover screws but my Timing cover screws are screwed. Pun intented.
jis screwsI know this is an older post, but did anyone ever locate any 5mm .90 screws? The fuel petcock on my CA77 needs 3... I'll tap it if I have to, but just thought I'd check
Thanks, Don Re: jis screwsThis site says they have them, although I've not ordered any myself. http://www.rimfire-eng.com/index.htm 66 dream, 78 cb750k, 02fz1, 09 wing
Fast FredOrdered mine from Fast Fred as instucted and I was very happy with them.
Had to shorten a few of them but this was no problem compared to the scavenger hunt I was on to find them in the first place. The only tap work I had to do was to chase out the threads where someone had used the wrong pitch screw on my starter cover. The longer screws that were sent actually came in handy for reinstaling the cover in this case. The craftsman metric tap set comes with the 5mmX.90 tap that you'll need to chase out the threads. Take an inventory of your speedo, stator and starter screws as well so you can order all that you'll need in one shot. Hopefuly Fred doesn't run out of stock.
