Hi Kevin, If these are like those on the CB72 they allow air to bleed into the inlet valve guides through small holes. This reduces the amount of engine oil being sucked between the valve and inlet guides through the inlet ports and into your combustion chambers. There should be small holes in the head and guides. To clean them properly, you'll have to remove the inlet valves, and use carb cleaner or similar to flush them through. Regards David

I cleared them last night. I was letting the head sit in some hot soapy water last night for its fianl cleaning and rinse before I re-assembled it. Checked again after they sat in hot water for over an hour and they are now clear. I got anothr reply saying that they were discontinued after '67, so I guess they really weren't needed.

Mine actually has threaded hose barbs fitted to these, with the remnants of clear tubing attached. I'm guessing they would have been routed to the air cleaner?

Threaded hose barbs is how they came. The actual tubes or barbs aren't the pert that gets clogged, at least in my case. It was the passage inside the head. You can see the breather barbs in this pic.

Vent Tubes on 1966 CA77 Dream

Post by norm-ormond66305 » Tue May 16, 2006 3:43 pm

Anyone know a national store (auto, etc.) where I can find the clear tubing to replace my discolored vent tube. I have tried Ace Hardware, Interstate Battery, pet stores (acquarium tubes), auto parts stores, and more...no luck finding that size...
