CA77 Engine GasketsCA77 Engine GasketsSo due to some prior discussed problems (see "Engine is not seized, but wont go past tdc") I am getting ready to tear down my 305. I have seen plenty of posts about poor gasket sets. I want to make sure to put the right ones on the first time. Where do I find good Gasket sets? It seems that the CB/CL77 gaskets are different, is that correct?

I'm dipping my oar in as no-one has answered yet (plus I have a gasket Q of my own!): the cyl head top covers differ, as do the oil pumps, but I seems to recall reading and LM stating that both motors are essentially the same, so the gasket sets should be also.
The crankshaft seal is different, as the CL doesn't have a starter clutch. The camchain tensioner's width was changed at CB77E-1050999 (circa '66?) from 41mm to 32mm between fixing centres, so that gasket will vary, but is simple to make from quality packing material. Stick it to the cyl port with a smear of grease or Vaseline, not to the tensioner before fitting it in place; that way you can be sure the screw holes are aligned -- if they're not aligned spot-on, then it leaks via the screws. My Q: anyone used these Japanese Noboru kits with success?: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... &viewitem= It seems that the aftermarket kits are all good, save for the head gasket! Western Hills Honda wants around 50-6- dollars for a OEM Honda head gasket. I guess it's worth it if you don't have to remove the engine to replace the leaky aftermarket one. I buy the DK ones on ebay for $27, and use Honda head gaskets.
