Help with year?

Could someone help me narrow down the year of this engine number? CA77E-IO351618

looks like 1 too many digits to me, but ill put in a guess of '66! hopefully someone more knowledgeable than i can give a better answer.

no problem. if you look through past posts somewheres you'll come upon ....

through '64 they had a 6 digit number, first digit being the last digit of the year. in '65 they started with 7 digits, leading off with a 1 and numbering sequentially through the rest of production. i'd think it one of the later digits you're missing, which would put you at 1032xxx, about the 32,000 made after the '65 number switch. the best way to tell for certain is a little date tag in the middle of the wiring harness. pictures of this can be found http://www.honda305.com/forums/viewtopi ... highlight= . i think it's probably nearly impossible / very tricky to see this with the harness in the bike.
my engine vin is 1028312, and the date tag on the harness is '65. 4000 later yours is probably also a '65 or a '66, granted that it is 1032xxx.

im sure someone more knowledgeable could narrow it down further for you and/or correct any discrepancies in my explanation.
