Cam Timing CL350

Post by stevesearles » Sun Jul 25, 2010 8:07 am

Need to make sure I have the timing correct on 1971 CL350:
I have the left piston up and the mark at LT. I have the cam sprocket horizontal line parrellel with the top. OK. But the cam lobes on the left are not facing down, they are pointed to the side. Now, when I turn the engine counterclockwise one turn to where the LT mark comes up again, then the cam lobes are down but the line on the sprocket is hidden. Also, I have the points cam in so that during THIS stroke the L points just start opening at LF. My only question is they say to time the thing at left LT and the sprocket line horizontal, is it correct that the cam lobes are not DOWN at this point?????? Need to confirm as I do not want to put engine back in and have it wrong cause you have to take the engine out to do any of this. THANKS! stevesearles@hotmail.com
