Honda CB450E

Post by Ironman » Wed Oct 19, 2005 5:21 pm

I can't find out anything about this model. all I know is the serial number for the engine (CB450E-3008318). I need some info on this model because we currently have this engine on a custom dunebuggy and my dad made it a long time ago. Now a clutch part is broken, and i need to find out about it so that i can find parts for it.

What Do I Have?

Post by bill440cars » Thu Apr 20, 2006 8:03 pm

Ironman, What you have is aCb450K1 that was sold from 1968-69'
Judging from the serial number, I'd say you would be safe to say that it
is a 1969. Thing is, alot of 450 engine parts will fit quite a few years. If
you will go to crotchrocket.com, you'll find access to online parts
manuals for these and others. After you find the p/ns for what you need,
check with them to see if yhey have the parts. Hope this helps. Later on,
Bill

Bill -

Do you have a source for matching engine numbers to models??
All my info uses frame numbers, and that number rarely matches the engine number (I've only seen one that did, long ago).

the difference between the frame and the engine number set up would be CB450-3008xxx instead of CB450E-3008xxx, seeing as how they would have been manufactured close the same time. off by maybe a few hundred.
you aren't worrying about a frame however, just an engine, so use the engine number, it will be a correct assesment of year.

Go with the same number, omitting the 'E', for parts ordering. The 'E' denotes 'engine'; the actual frame number shouldn't be far off the engine number, and it's the frame number that parts-ordering usually revolves around.

Try Ed at Western Hills Honda Yamaha: ed@westernhillshondayamaha.com

You should find the part you need on their online fiche:

The CB450 starts in 1966 year model.
