Hey your right, It might start a trend. You know, to be politically correct I made sure one of those bags was a Honda bag! It worked you know. No sand in my socks so now I can wear the socks again for another two weeks!

Like everything else built with a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) there is a way to tell by that number. The problem is, I don't know how to do it BUT if your bike have it's original wiring harness you can see the approximate year on it by looking for the harness tag.

The one pictured if off of my C200 and although my bike was built in late 1965 it's classed as a 1966 model. So although you won't get the exact build date you'll at least get in dated close enough to satisfy yourself. Hope this helps. Paul

Hi Paul and others. It's so cool to find a site like this as australia is a long way from ready advice for these bikes.
Im now a member here and deep into the resto of my C200, which by the way, ive discovered it's a 1963 model thanks to your tip above. It's all there and ive managed to get some good stuff from Asian suppliers to complete it. When i say resto, i actually mean more custom than resto. I have plans to replace the standard seat for a Harley or classic style saddle with springs ala the 62 Dreams and as i have a set of low handlebars i'll be tilting them down further for a nice fall away angle. Colours will be jet black and silver with polished aluminium parts. This bike will get the bobber treatment as i reckon they have that look with the frame's low belly just begging for a saddle.

Now, here's a question i hope you guys can solve for me. I have the original motor for this bike which is in really excellent condition internally (i hope to post some pics some time) and should be a runner without much trouble ( it came as a spare motor as the bike had another motor installed which did not go). However, im thinking of installing a modern bigger motor like a 125cc, 150cc or even a 200cc. Has anyone else done this? What are my options here? can the frame, etc take a 200cc? if not, is it viable to go a 150 or 125?. Im thinking of one of those configurations in a Chinese Loncin, Zongshen, etc which are engineered for Hondas. I think there's plenty of room to put in a 200cc (yes, ive measured it up!) with maybe a single downtube for extra support or bracket support on the head mounting on the frame from under the tank. Naturally all this will require updates to electrics (12v) and a set of white walls would be the killer.
I'd appreciate any comments and ideas, especially regarding the motor question.
Cheers, from Oz,
glen.

Hey Glen welcome to the site. Hope it helps you out. A larger motor in the C200 would be fun for sure. I don't know how safe it would be though. Make sure you post some pictures of the process and the finished project. In the mean time here's a shot video of the junk I've restored and the C200 is in there somewhere. I figured the sound suited the surroundings. Ride safe, Paul

Paul,
I enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing and thanks for not having rap music in the background:)
Why don't you get on that Goldwing and come to Birmingham Oct 20/21? Probably getting pretty cool in your neck of the woods by then?
Thanks, Randy

Oh man I can't go Rap and glad you liked the video. I picked the song Heavy Fuel because of the surrounding gas pumps! Well at least I still got some imagination left!
I was just fooling around. The quality was perfect until I shrunk it down to download it. I just finished painting the 1984 C70 Passport today. She'll be completed this coming week. She's going to be a nice little bike when completed. Just the assembly is left. Your right, it's cooling down in these parts. I got to service the Wing and install two new tires (ouch) and then I may park it for the season. Ride safe my friend. Paul
