Hello! 1st message on the board! I want to thank everyone for their knowledge, experience, pictures, and opinions. You guys helped make up my mind about what kind of motorcycle to buy!
I am a very pleased and look forward to sharing my experiences with you.
Want to start out by IDing:
Frame # CA78-310###
Engine # CA77E-909
From what I've gathered form the forum, It's a 1963 Honda CA77 Dream 305cc. Pink slip says 1965, but I believe that was the year sold. 16K miles.
I've got to get some newer pics. but I'll share what I have...my first sight of her!
I've taken off the windshield and saddlebags. Headlight is out. I'm trying to get at the combination switch to have a set of keys made. How do you get at the lock cylinder? Also, the connections can be pulled apart, right? They're a bit stuck, and I don't want to damage the wiring. Any security suggestions? I'm thinking Lo-jack.
Battery, petcock/carb. fresh-up, ignition check up, new plugs, oil change...then blast off! I know there's some other steps in there, or that will come up, but I think that covers it. Bike was prepped for winter and parked for over 25 years. I'm hoping my Dream wants to get on the road as bad as I want to get it on the road!
Blinkers...gotta do some more research. Thinking LED, and possibly integrated with rear view mirrors for the front, and something on the rear fender. I want to keep it clean, simple, and practical. Really want to avoid hacking, drilling, etc. I'm going to keep this bike for a long time and I will ride at every opportunity!
Thanks, again, to everyone @ Honda305! I'm open to any and all input!
