Yes the Dunlops are great (K82's would be the ones), but no one that I know of in North America stocks the sizes we need. So you're left to get them out of the UK -- no problem, but be prepared to pay about $350-$400 for a set (price of the tires + shipping). I've had three sets on my bike, and they are utterly confidence-inspiring. Rear tire's only good for about 8000 miles though.

Presently I have the Heidenaus on my bike, and they seem pretty good too (3.25x18 on the rear, 2.75x18 on the front, I'm running them at about 35psi). 'Pretty good' to the point where I don't even have to think of them. And I'm doing the two-lane backroads at a fairly brisk pace (haven't tried them in rain though). So maybe it's just your getting used to riding the bike again and redeveloping your riding style on it, but the Heidenaus (at least from my seat-of-the-pants perspective) are good tires and seem to work just fine. Not at all like Cheng Shins!

Thanks, guys! I too hear good things about the Heidenau's (I don't know how you spell that...), which is why I bought them. They'll stay on the bike, because long term she's going to be more of a looker than a rider. They do look good, but I have to tell you, that 3.25 x 18 on the rear looks awfully narrow when viewed from the back!

Russ, thank you for the kind words! And Vince, your bike is just superb.

Hey Vince those Cheng Shins are that bad?? I have a set on mine that I just bought. I'll have to wait till next month before I can unload 400 bucks for the k82. I hope there ok for just your occasional cruise around town.

For the occasional cruise around town I'm sure they're fine (BTW are they making them again? Thought they were discontinued a few years back). They were the first tire I put on my bike after I bought it. But I found them truly scary in the rain, and they didn't inspire a heck of a lot of confidence when I was going for it on those backroads. But they definitely look the part and are okay for casual riding. Here again, these are just my personal experiences with them.

Love the K82's, but I hate like heck having to pay more than the price of one tire for the shipping from the UK.
