What a concept - A Girl Bringing Back Her 1966 Super Hawk
Nice job Sara!!!
All that time, all that worry, and all that frustration makes for a memory that you will re-live over and over and over for the rest of your life. I know that it is a great feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction when a project like yours comes to an end. Actually the project is now in it's beginning stages of life as you go forward with making it reliable and fun to ride. You will probably at times not want to take things apart again, but will have to, so that she can be at her best performance level. Congratulations on a job well done. It really looks nice. Ricky, thank you!!!! It IS a feeling of accomplishment, and it's way more than just satisfying. It seems these old bikes have a strong connection t each of us who take the time to bring them back. That just cements that connection!
Your CL is just spectacular. I'd be afraid to take it outside! You have every reason to be very proud of her. 1965 CB77 305 Super Hawk

Thanks Sara, I have a few issues to take care of before I leave the confines of the neighborhood. It's running a little rich, think it's the jets, but just can't get the gumption to tear it apart again right now to get to the carbs and check it out. At least it's not running lean. I have had the old girl apart, together, apart, together etc. One of these days soon I will get to it and figure out whats happening. It starts great and runs great, but the plugs say it's rich. Anyway, I just wanted to say congratulations on your success and accomplishment, I am proud of you.

I've been doing some "cleaning up loose ends" today. I got the headlight working, checked out the charging system (it maxes at 12.84 volts, that's the regulator/rectifier), and did some finagling with the carburetors. Rik, like you, it just doesn't want to settle down. My plugs are saying "rich", too! It spits and farts through the carbs until it warms up, and then it's kind of boggy below 3000 RPM. I'm going to pull the carbs off - yes, I have to - and send them to Ed. I did not rebuild them, I think I said that, I just cleaned them and checked the float levels. Not good enough! The rear fender should be done and on her next week, and at that time I'll put the chain guard on, too. I discovered one of the chain tensioners for the drive chain has a partially stripped bolt, so I should replace that. The tach still jumps around, as does the speedo, so they're going to come out at some point and get sent to the resto place in San Diego (I see that Charlie's Place has gauges, too - it says "call" on the website).
Then, it's off to DMV! 1965 CB77 305 Super Hawk
