The rebirth of a C78 305 Honda Dream
Paul, what would you think about doing a pool for specialty tools like this one? If three of us team up then it would only be about $34 each and we could mail it to each other as needed. Some of the other special tools, such as the 4-prong clutch socket, might also be candidates.
I'm looking at buying a large ultrasonic cleaner. It's supposed to make parts look like new in only a few minutes. No solvents, no scrubbing. The hard part is finding one big enough to take the engine head, and finding a used one that would fit my budget.
Bob that's a great idea and one I would have gone with a month ago. My problem is that I'm about three days away from truing up my wheels and then I can start the final assembly of the bike and I'm looking forward to getting it done. Man that ultrasonic cleaner sparked my interest as well. Do you have any web sites that have info on them? So far I've used my pressure blaster and bead blaster to do most of my cleaning but this ultrasonic cleaner you mentioned sounds like the cats meow. Paul
This link has good info on ultrasonic cleaners: http://sonicsonline.com/ultrasonic-information.html
Camera should be delivered tomorrow, so I will post pix over the weekend. Don't expect much - so far I'm just taking things apart.
Truing standWell I managed to get my truing stand made today. I made it completely out of left over material and old parts I had laying around the shop. I even used old knobs I found around the place. I did have to machine a couple of brass tapered cones to fit the bearings but that was no big deal. I think the worst part was cleaning the rust off some of the metal I used.
I'll see tomorrow how well it works. Hey, I never said it was going to be pretty!!! Paul
Re: Truing standHey, I never said it was going to be pretty!!! Paul
Is that a surfeit of modesty or are you just a ^%$# sandbagger?
Re: Truing standLooks as ugly as sin to me. Actually thought about not posting a picture of the beast but I said I would so I did. As I said, It's made out of scrap. If I had my time back I would have bought new meterial and put more into it but I may only need it once so it will do. Paul
Well I only intended to place the engine in the frame this morning but I guess I got carried away. I even forgot to stop for lunch!
Anyway here's some updated pics of todays work. I attached a picture of the factory winkers in the rear and there's one of the factory flasher. All the electrics are working fine. Horn, winkers, starter. All the lights. I think I'm on the home stretch! Paul
