Now you can pull the gearshift spindle assy straight out. You can see the shift drum stopper assy. Remove the kick start stopper bolt (17mm socket head) and the 2 bolts and remove the assy.

You can see the gunk in the centrifugal oil filter. I scraped the gunk out of one side so you can see the difference. I've seen these a lot dirtier.

The clutch springs are the early issue. I have one of Ed's lathe turned cush drive clutches to install when I get the motor done.

I turned the motor around to remove the rotor/stator assy. Before I did that I removed the starter motor. I took the starter cable off, then removed the 4 screws that hold the starter sprocket cover on the right side and dropped the cover. Then removed the 4 bolts that hold the starter to the engine and pulled the starter.
To remove the rotor I use a rear axle off of a CB350, which is the same axle on the CB350F/CB400F. The thread size and pitch is the same as the rotor. I screw it in and alternate whacks with a rubber mallet and turns of the axle. Eventually it pops loose and it slides off. Don't forget to remove the woodruff key off of the crank.

The stator is held on by 3 bolts. remove them, disconnect the neutral switch rotor from the stator harness and remove the stator.

On the back of the rotor is the starter clutch. Now is the time to check your rollers, caps and springs. My springs were toast as compared to a new spring.

Before you can remove the starting sprocket off the crank you need to remove the starting sprocket stopper by removing the screw. I had already removed the starting chain.
