What a concept - A Girl Bringing Back Her 1966 Super HawkDear Sarah, It is all very impressive what you are doing. I have really been enjoying the progress and the manner that you have logged the whole process on the forum. There are a lot who cant do what you are doing. It is all a credit to you and the people who have given you guidance and a bit of help. All the best Jerry
Jerry, thank you! That was very sweet. I have one argument - with patience and perseverance, anyone CAN do this! Even me! ;) Thank you again... ~~Sara 1965 CB77 305 Super Hawk

Spent the morning installing the handlebar and the carb slides. Trouble! The carb slides won't drop into the carb bodies. Yes, the cutout is forward, which means the slides are going back into the carb bodies that they came out of, and the pin is engaging the slot on the side of the slide.. I don't think the throttle cable is routed properly, but that's not the problem. It's like the bores in the carburetors have gone out of round - the slides engage the keys in the bodies, move down to just about the venturi opening, and that's it. They're tight all the way from the top, not free sliding at all. I can shove them down, but they won't return on their own - either independently or both connected to the throttle cable. Those things should just drop in there, but they won't.
