If you ever feel tempted to part with them (and I wouldn't) please drop me a line..... :-)

G

Hang on to them. I'm sure that there are plenty around the world in people's parts stores but I found it hard to locate them at any of the usual places. CMS reckoned they had three in stock but could only find one. A normal 72mm OD bearing is a fraction of the price so I am going to try and machine some sleeves to make them up to 77mm. I also have a pile of the 75mm OD earlier type but those are destined for my 1960 Dream motors.

My intention is to rebuild a number of cranks and I just want to be able to get hold of the necessary parts having taken the trouble to build the tooling.

G
Graham,
Curiosity got the best of me had to look and see what I had : )
I have (4) 77mm and (1) 75mm, don't think they are going anywhere soon been hanging on to them for 15yrs!

Thanks for the pics.
That is the earliest issue and was changed to what you installed followed by the CUSH issue.
No rubber is in the one you used.
I've had racers ask for that one you show because they like the direct rivets and sprocket design. ...................lm

Many thanks for that. I only found two numbers for the clutch so I thought the change must have been earlier. Here are some pics of the '61 basket. If you need any more just shout. I am in Atlanta for a few days so work (well play, really) will be interrupted until next week..... :-)

The CUSH neoprene disk is between the sprocket and aluminum basket.
What you have now is a 1963 to 1966? issue clutch.
The 2 steel plates you show did come along about the time of the CUSH clutch and are the ones I recommend as they don't warp like the earlier issues (several different thicknesses) did.
Can you show a pic of the sprocket side of the 61 basket? ................lm

Not sure about that. It was just the one in my '63 'donor' engine. It was certainly different from the '61 clutch basket, which was held together with copper rivets straight into the sprocket. The clutch basket I used had steel rivets and a plate outside the sprocket which, I assume, is to sandwich the rubbers in the sprocket.

LM

Thanks again. Now I know that there is no advantage to the one I put in I may change back to the early one.

Every day is a learning day....

G

Is the cush drive one the one with the 010 code is there a later part number?

How close did we get with the CYB 5 speed with the list I provided?

Greg

Sorry, not far yet. I am on my travels again. Will get some pics for you when I'm back at home next week.

Did pick up a few more morsels this week, though.....
