I finally got my frame stripped of parts and can now compare it to a 1965 frame. Steering head is smooth on the right side, the 1965 unit has a boss cast into it.

The rear top motor mounts in the later frame look to have been redesigned to strengthen them up. Maybe the earlier units were prone to cracking.

You can see they changed the fuse/rectifier attachment areas. On the 1962 unit the fuse holder is spot welded to a separate bracket spot welded to the cross member. The 1965 unit the holder is spot welded to a bracket that is a continuation of the cross member. The rectifier bracket was strengthened over the earlier unit by the angular stamping. I did not notice anny differences to the battery box/filter hanger assy.

The rear shock casting shows some ears on the later unit where the frame tubes slide in vs the plain cylinder style of the 1962 unit.

The horn bracket assy is flat on the 1962 unit where the 1965 unit has a lip to it, maybe to strengthen it.

I'm getting my hardware ready to go to the zinc platers so I started tearing down my motor to get at the hardware. Like a dummy I forgot to take pics of the initial top end tear down to aid future newbies. I'll post what I got so far.
