1962 CB77 Restoration underway
Here's a look at my '62 steering stem/steering damper vs one for the aluminum slider fork legs that began with cb77-1030130. There were 4 different issues of the steering stem for the steel slider CB72/CB77s. Mine would be 53200-268-02 and the comparison would be 53200-268-07. I also have a later issue steel slider steering stem but can't get to it at the moment. Bill Silver's book has a lot of info on the breakdown for the different issues. It's really important to know what you have before sourcing parts if you need them. It's 38mm ID on mine and 33mm ID on the later one. You can see the differences in the friction assys for the damper. Star spring is different as well as the nut, damper disc bolt added at CB77-3111503, also Plate A and Plate B are different. The steering damper knob only had one part number. My logo is designed differently then the one from the aluminum slider bike.

Yes, Steve. Those Thai boys are pretty adept at making copies. If they would all represent their copies as repops I wouldn't have a problem. It's the ones that represent them as "NOS" parts or take the photo with an old Honda parts bag giving the illusion of OEM that I take issue with. There's a lot of that stuff on e-bay going on.
