Sara,

I can't take credit for that header pipe, it didn't come from me. Maybe Ed sent it.

Best Regards- Tom
Oops, shame on me! I'm over 60, can you tell? ;)

Screwed this together today. I replaced the seals, Hondabond 4 on the mating surfaces, dowel pins are in the right places, cam chain is sitting on the drive sprocket. Question: I can't find a torque value for the nuts, although there is a tightening sequence. Does anyone have a good number?

I'm glad a took pictures! For future reference (for anyone following this thread and intending to do this) there are two 8mm cap nuts that cover two bronze washers. They go on the front middle studs on the bottom case half. They're not in the right places in the previous thread's photos.

I got the shift mechanism and clutch installed today. However, I have a washer left over. It could go behind the 17mm bolt that affixes the shifter guide assembly, or it could be a thrust washer from the clutch throw out mechanism. I just don't know. My shop and parts manuals don't show it. I go no further until I solve this mystery!

Might be the washer that goes on top of the primary chain tensioner spring. Number 27 on the attached. Good for you - easy to put back on!

I spent some time straightening out the little errors I had on the assembly - OMG, my memory! Reading the "Engrish" in the shop and parts manual is a real challenge, too, and my understanding of the translations aren't always accurate. Anyway - I had a chat with LM, and he clued me in on some other things I may have done wrong, besides what 48 had kindly pointed out. After the conversation, I put the A plate where it was supposed to be, the first plate installed in the clutch basket, with the beveled edge facing in. Yes, the two wires are installed properly. I turned the spring washer on crankshaft around, so that the raised center goes under the retaining nut and not against the oil slinger drive gear. I placed the "clutch lifter" thingie under the pressure plate, long end into the main shaft, and made sure the O ring was inside the shaft (another thing LM advised me on). I put the washer on top of the spring on the drive chain tensioner (thanks, 48!). And, finally, I discovered that I have LOST the "clutch oiler, metal" - the little protruberance that fits into the center of the pressure plate between the case cover and the plate. It may turn up, it may not. Patience.

I need to clean up my workspace. It's in there somewhere.

Oh - my new mufflers and the CA77 header pipe arrived. The mufflers are very nice - not dented, not scraped, no holes, just dirty and in need of TLC. They are FAR nicer than the original mufflers I had on the bike. I am very happy!

The CA77 header pipe is identical, IDENTICAL, to the original headers that were installed on the bike - bend, length, diameter, all the same. The only thing it doesn't have is dents, scrapes and rust. Ha! Another small victory!
