Not just because of the bluing, but it will cause the chrome to bubble. The folks at SpaceCoast Plating in Melbourne, FL are quite good with all motorcycle parts. They have separate automotive and motorcycle divisions, so the uniqueness of the bike plating requirements is understood. I have yet to obtain a set of repro header pipes that are correct. The angle of the sealing flange and the bend itself must be to exact stock specifications to function properly. The one exception is the Swarbrick pipes from the UK, however they have two separate bends, and not stock appearing. If you install your stock header pipes (no mufflers), you'll note the final section is basically horizontal. The repros I've had are all about an inch, or more lower, at the rear. This makes muffler alignment and the seal that the exhaust port really difficult. Please check this. If the DSS pipes pass the test, please let us know. Regards, Chase
The mufflers were a little rusty, especially the right side. They were very straight and solid but I think it would take a top notch chrome shop to make them show stoppers. For me, with the availability of nice reproduction mufflers from CMS, DSS, and the beautiful Stainless set I got from Overlanders it just didn't make sense for me to mess with the originals. I was concerned that Dick would reject them when he saw them. This was one of those deals that worked because it was a face to face transaction and either one of us could walk away with out having to deal with return shipping and all the fun that entails.
Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself! The only down side to the deal was you didn't make it to my place and talked "shop".
