Why thank you sir! I am 66 and it's nice to be thought of as "a young one" LOL!

Had the Dream out for another ride. Sure is nice to feel the acceleration I remember from my teens. :)

I am beginning to think this Honda DREAM should be renamed the Honda NIGHTMARE!

After running fine most of last week and looking forward to riding it to an antique motorcycle meeting tomorrow night, it refused to start Saturday :( I got a chance to check it out tonight and the ignition coil has gone VERY weak - barely makes the tiniest spark at the plugs though the input waveshape is perfect.

Replacement coil on order ....

Anybody want to buy a nightmare? ;)

Found a coil in my junk box from a 4 cylinder Honda. Primary and secondary resistance both seemed good so I decided to test it - it tested fine. I drilled out the rivets on the old coil mount, mounted the second coil, extended the high-tension leads, installed it with new plugs, and the Dream is running again.

If it doesn't explode for no apparent reason in the next 6 hours, it will get to the meeting tonight.

Dianne

Isn't that nice when you can fix something from the 'spares box'?

Just like the old days! :-)

Yes, it is. It also helps justify all the "junk" I have around here LOL!

I DO have a new coil on order and would rather not run with spliced high-tension wires but it was nice to be up and running again in a few hours.

I took the Dream out in the dark last night to check the lights. The headlamp needs to be aimed and the speedometer light flickers but everything else is working fine.

Made a major break-through on the Dream today - found a problem with the carb that was preventing proper mid-range mixture adjustment - I posted about it under Carburetors.

Still need to tweak the high-end mixture but the bike is running like a charm now!
